Because I have been trying to use it with Internet Explorer. Bill Gates was quoted as saying something like "It doesn't ship until Netscape doesn't work." I can't find the exact quote but that was during the early browser wars and Bill was ordering his team to make it so that Windows had built in code that would mess with Netscape Navigator, making it crash more and be less effective at browsing the web. Yeah, he got into a lot of trouble with that one. Well, now I think Google is doing the same thing. I am typing this in Firefox and wow, does everything on Blogger all of a sudden work again. I can format text, I can cut and paste, I am assuming I can center pictures again and have them pop up when you click on them. Let's try. Biker Thor says "Touch my bone you get dragged behind my Harley." Yup, the Dog of Thunder is centered and (unlike in IE) when I click on the picture it expands to full size. My blogging just got a lot less frustrating.

Well, two hundred rejections later, book finished and self published, then another book self published, then twenty-odd mediocre columns later – I’m a little beaten down. My computer has died. My Spanish teacher has suddenly found herself pregnant (unplanned) and is having complications that require her to be in bed for weeks, cancling all our classes. Blood tests reveal that I am suffering tissure damage on a massive scale and it points towards my liver. Shocking no one. HP is willing to fix my laptop for free, but only inside the US. See, they bought these cheap ass motherboards that are failing all over the world and will replace the motherboard, even out of warrenty, because it is such a pile of crap. They have sent a box to my house in Vermont and all I need to do is ship my computer there, have Doug put my computer into the box and ship it to HP. It comes back fixed, he repackages it and sends it back to me in Spain. Cost to ship my computer home - $207.00. Wait time for shipping and repair - hmmm, maybe a month. So I bought Vista. Being a computer tech, I am qualifed to give you my unbiased, knowledgable review of this new operating system. I hope this doesn ’t get too technical for some people. It sucks. I have a 9 month old machine so I'm very capable of running the OS with all the bells and whistles, without having hardware so new that Vista doesn't have drivers for it. Despite this, I have had random lockups, shut downs, apps that just disappear, apps that won't run at all, security headaches, and no matter what DVD burning software I use, all that happens is I destroy a disk, making it unreadable or writable AND the machine crashes at the end of the burn. It's just not sexy.
