  1. I am not sure if you will remember me. My wife and I used to run E-League and I went by the nick TheHans or TheSkell. We were big fan of your MTG writing and bought Tournament Reports as soon as it came out.

One thing that always showed in your writing was your feelings for Mare. I never met her or talked to her but I felt like I knew her through your prose.

My life got more complicated a couple of years back. My wife and I had separated then I had a stroke. My doctor gave me two weeks to live. My biggest concern was how this would effect my loved ones. Such tragedies are hardest on those left behind.

My doctor was wrong. I am now mostly recovered and my wife and I have gotten back together.

When I recently happened upon this blog my first curiosity was what had happened between you and Mare. I had assumed that you had just broken up and went your separate ways.

This post was my first realization that she was taken from you by cancer. You have my deepest sympathies and condolences on your loss. I am glad that you have been able to go on with your life and I know she would have most wanted you to be happy. In the time where I thought I only had a few weeks to live it was my biggest concern that those that cared about me get to live the rest of their lives to the fullest.

If you ever publish a book about what you went through with her loss I would certainly buy it. I am not sure that I would be strong enough to read it though. She was incredibly lucky to have someone like you that made it so that the memories of her live on even in people that never met her such as myself.
